| John, I would probably arrange this with a few simple harmonies that come in on the refrain...infinite thy vast, going solo up to that point. Then bring the choir in on the second verse...as far as the assembly, a few time through and people would pick it up. Maybe solo the first verse, with choir build, and then repeat the first verse with assembly joining in. I played with some rests in between segments of the verse, and would probably shorten them up consistently (like the third verse in this demo) for flow. Lots of possibilities, but dynamics and flow always make the song more interesting. There is still a strong 3/4 beat underneath the synchopation, so the core melody flows in the traditional manner, people can pick up on it very quickly. |

| Another good one, Bill! I love it as a solo, but I always wonder with expressive personalized songs like this, how would you do it with an average choir and assembly? My guess is you'd teach your 3 best singers essentially as backup, set them back a little from the mic's while close-mic'ing your own voice, and turn it all up so the people can really hear and follow. The motivated ones will sing anything, and the unmotivated won't sing anything anyway. But what would you do? |
